Thank you all for your support in following the guidelines and bearing with us on continuing with our restrictions and Covid policies. I’m sure like our team none of us thought we would still be at this point; we continue with bubbles and current Covid guidance from ELC and Care Inspectorate. As per last year, we will inform all parents if anything changes in early years immediately.
updates | All staff will remain where they are at present, no changes to staffing in rooms. Our relief staff workers Wendy and Iona are still in place as and when needed working around university. Amanda will continue in our Octopus room. Bethany has reached the end of her Apprenticeship training with Seahorse and has accepted a post in a nursery in March. We thank her for all her work with the children and hope Bethany continues to grow and develop into an amazing practitioner. We also thank the trainers here at Seahorse, who we couldn’t take on and train our modern Apprentices of the future; we are currently recruiting for a new Apprentice to join the team. Please pass on this opportunity to anyone who may be interested in this role. |
Parental consultations | Our bi-annual parents’ consultations are April 25th to 27th. This is a good opportunity to meet with your child’s Keyworker and find out how your child is progressing at Seahorse. This will take place either in person (Covid dependent) or phone/online etc. Slips for apt, will be handed out by your room supervisor In March. We find these so useful to maintain communication, but also to hear all your valuable ideas and comments. |
Outdoor Adventures | As our woodland adventures were put on hold due to Covid, we have been working hard to include as many of the activities in our garden over the last two years as has been possible. Emma and Vanesa are the lead staff in our Outdoor pursuits, and have been setting up new areas for the children outdoors. We have a fire pit / cooking area now set up safely in our garden. Emma is looking forward to cooking and delivering a programme of two days per week utilising this resource. Watch out for photos and news soon on our website and Facebook page! An added bonus is the setup of a closed face book page for all parents to see lovely photos of their children at work and play with the team. Permission forms etc. will be handed out soon. |
Staff Member of Feb 2022 | Karen Fox Clairmount Karen joined the Team in March of 2021.Karen has a lovely caring and warm manner with everyone she deals with. The children respond to her calm and nurturing manner. Karen has blossomed in her role, the under twos have a fantastic team member, who really cares about her job. Karen has successfully applied and enrolled in her svq3 training now as a qualified Practitioner. We all feel Karen will work hard and achieve this over the next year with us. Thank you, Karen, for all you do caring for the babies. We all appreciate how hard you work and your commitment to the job! |
Room Updates | Emma O garden: Emma is working hard to get the vegetable garden ready to plant new fruit and Vegetables. Emma has met with the Junior room Children and they have chosen what they will be planting this year. Junior Dept.: The juniors have been exploring animals and researching their habitats. We are also encouraging personal independence i.e. putting shoes and coats on themselves. Going forward we will be looking at planting, flowers, vegetables and fruits in the garden. We will also try and manage trips out with the nursery garden to explore more of our community and develop our gross motor skills at the playparks. Octopus Room; This month our octopus children have been exploring ‘All about Me’, learning about their body parts, creating playdough faces & potato men. We have also been looking into independence, in particular putting on our shoes and jackets. You may have seen half a sticker on the inside of their shoes; this is to encourage them to put their shoes on the correct feet. We would like to welcome our new children to our room and happy to see they are settling in really well and exploring all aspects of the room and garden. We will be preparing for transition to the junior room throughout spring/Summer so please speak to Emma O about arranging you’re apt to have a look at the work in the junior room upstairs if you have not already had an opportunity to do so, please email on seahorsenursery@aol.com. Starfish room: Hi! It’s Courtney, Karen and Chelsea here. This month in the starfish room the children have been exploring the new layout of the room and the new resources that have been added. The older children have been working on their colour recognition and their counting skills when building towers. Whilst our younger children are enjoying the new loose parts and showing off their climbing skills on the soft play. |
It is imperative your child attends Seahorse with coat and warm clothing to enable all to explore and enjoy the garden. Please be aware children will be outdoors daily even in winter. Emma has asked that all the baby starfish (even non walkers) bring a coat please. | |
dates for diary | Our Dates for the year diary has been emailed to all parents in Jan 22, please check your emails and if you have been missed /spam etc. Alternatively ask for a paper copy from your room team. |
